Diversity and mutual understanding
Through the Student Diversity Programme, NUS-USI supports students and staff in Stranmillis and St Mary’s University Colleges in developing and delivering the Diversity and Mutual Understanding (DMU) Programme.
Teachers are faced with new challenges and opportunities as they work to enable young people to develop the skills, confidence and knowledge to participate and contribute to this changing society. This requires an increased awareness of the diversity of the society in which we live, of our attitudes to different groups and the impact this can have on how we interact with people in our personal and professional lives, but also the skills to facilitate discussions on difficult issues.
The DMU Programme aims to support student teachers from St. Mary's and Stranmillis University Colleges in starting this process through the Diversity and Mutual Understanding inter-college training programme.
